A 39-year old woman, Mrs. Ganiyat, has filed a suit before the Igando Customary Court in Lagos State seeking for the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Sodiq, 59, for denying her sex for the past years.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the mother of three wept bitterly before the Court while narrating how her husband, Sodiq, had treated her, starved her of sex for those years, which has traumatized her and she had no peace of mind in the marriage.

She then asked the Court to dissolve the marriage so that she will move on with her life and probably get another man that will satisfy her sexual desires because her husband, Sodiq, has disappointed her.

An embittered Mrs. Ganiyat also told the Court that apart from the fact that her husband, Sodiq, has been denying her of conjugal rights over the years,  he does not take care of her and the children.

She explained that he does not provide for the family and usually harasses and threatens her with violence, which has instilled fear in her and she had no rest of mind in the marriage.

She told the Court that she has lost interest in the marriage because she no longer loves him because of the way he had treated her over the years.

She pleaded with the Court to dissolve the marriage and give her custody of their children and order her husband to leave her house because she was the one that built it.

In response, her husband, Sodiq, denied some of the allegations made by his wife and insisted that he still loves her because she is the mother of her children.

He admitted to have denied her sex for some years because he was suspecting her of sleeping with another man outside.

The embattled husband told the Court that they were not on talking terms and she usually comes home late in the evening as such he does not have the desire to sleep with her because of her behaviour.

The President of the Court adjourned the matter till 12th March, 2024, for judgment.
