Woman, 43, Docked For Stealing Phone At Oba’s Palace

A 43-year old woman, Oluwakemi Adegboyega, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly committing a sacrilege by stealing a phone at the Palace of the HRH Oba Gbolahan Akinba Timson, Oba Jagunmolu 3 of Bariga. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oluwakemi Adegboyega, was caught and handed over to the Police for not only committing sacrilege but stealing the phone belonging to Solape Oyinlaye.

 

The incident happened at the Jagunmolu Palace located at Ayoka/Oloruntoyi junction – Plots 6-8 Ayoka Street, Bariga, area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, Oluwakemi Adegboyega allegedly stole the phone entrusted to her to keep. When the phone got missing and the owner contacted her, she denied.

 

However, it was later discovered that she was the person that stole the phone and the matter was reported to the Police at Bariga Division. She was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing phone.

 

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charge read:

“That you, Oluwakemi Adegboyega “F” on the 16th day of June 2024 at about 12 noon at Jagunmolu Palace, Bariga, Lagos in the Yaba Magisterial District, did steal one iPhone 11 promax handset entrusted to you to keep valued N350,000.00 property of one Solape Oyinlaye and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (9) (d) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

She pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with a surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect her bail conditions.
