Woman, 45, Arraigned For Assaulting Landlord In Public Over Undisclosed Matter

A 45-year old woman, Adepeju Oganla, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a landlord, Abdulsalam Kolawole, by pouring sand on his face in public over an undisclosed matter.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 25th May, 2025, at Abdulsalam Kolawole Street, Off Ekoro Road, Lagos, where they reside.

 

The cause of the matter was not disclosed by the Police who alleged that  the woman had a disagreement with the complainant, which led to exchange of words. And in the process, the woman scooped sand and poured it on the complainant’s face causing him public embarrassment.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Oke Oba Division. The woman was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

COUNT 1: “That you, Adepeju Oganla ‘F’ on the 25th day of May, 2025 at about 06:30am at 12, Abdulsalam Kolawole Street, Off Ekoro Road, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial district, did assault one Abdulsalam Kolawole ‘M’ by scooping sand in your hand and pouring it on his face and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 170 (1) (a) & (b) and punishable under section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Adepeju Oganla ‘F’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by harassing and cursing one Abdulsalam Kolawole ‘M’ and hereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168 (1) (d) and punishable under ection 168 (2) of the Criminal Law, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutotr, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
