A 45-year old woman, Nana Monday, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly inflicting injury on a woman,Omobola Odedele,
by biting off her cheek during a brawl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th April, 2025, at 5th Avenue, Bamaka School, Abesan Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos.
According to Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the victim over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words and degenerated into a fight. In the process, the suspect inflicted injury on her by biting off part of her left cheek.
The victim was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was as well reported to the Police at Ipaja Division.
The Police arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Nana Monday ‘F’ on the 6th day of April, 2025 at about 1813hrs At 5th Avenue, Bamaka School, Abesan Estate, Ipaja, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using your teeth to inflict human bite on the left cheek of one Omobola Odedele ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:” That you, Nana Monday ‘F’ on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did cause grievous harm to Omobola Odedele ‘F’ by using your teeth to cut off part of the flesh of left cheek and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
