A 46-year-old woman, Maria Ajimosun, has landed in trouble for allegedly stealing her dead sister’s N5.5m from her GTBANK account and N16m Lexus RX350 SUV in Oyo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the woman, Maria Ajimosun, has been arrested and charged before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan, Oyo State for the alleged offence.
According to the Police prosecutor, PC Olapeju Durodola, the woman conspired with others, who are currently at large, to commit the offence sometime in March, 2025, following the death of her sister, one Esther Adesiyan.
The defendant allegedly stole the deceased’s ATM card and withdrew N5.5 million from her GTBank account, converting the funds to her personal use.
The prosecution further alleged that the defendant stole a Lexus RX350 SUV valued at N16 million, along with GTBank and First Bank ATM cards, from her late sister’s residence.
The property reportedly belongs to the deceased’s husband, Mr. Michael Adesiyan.
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25 million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd March, 2026, for hearing.
