Woman, 48, Arrested Over Alleged ₦9m Visa Scam In Lagos

A 48-year-old woman, Kehinde Adebayo Aina Funmilayo, has been arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos State over alleged N9m visa scam involving Folashade Badmus.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 29th June 2025 at about 2:00pm at  Amule Ashipa, Ayobo Market area of Lagos.
According to the Police, Funmilayo  unlawfully obtained the money from  Folashade Badmus under the pretence of procuring a visa for her to Kuwait and Albania.
However, after obtaining the money,  the defendant allegedly failed to procure the visa as promised and instead converted same money to her personal use.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ayobo Division. The defendant was then arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Kehinde Adebayo Aina Funmilayo ‘f, on the 29/06/2025 at about1400hrs at No 10, Amule Ashipa Ayobo Market, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did obtain the sum of Nine Million Naira (N9,000,000.00), from Folashade Badmus, F, under the pretence of procuring Kuwaiti and Albanian visas, which you failed to do and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 314(a) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Kehinde Adebayo Aina Funmilayo ‘f on the same date, time and place in the Aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal the sum of Nine Million Naira (N9,000,000.00), property one Folashade Badmus ‘f and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss F.R. Ogunkoyede, granted her bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 19th June,2026, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
