Woman, 63, In Police Net For Attacking Girl, 7, With Shovel

A 63-year old woman, Amope Toriola, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly attacking a 7-year old girl, Miss Islamiat Toriola, with a shovel and causing her serious injury on the head.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Victor Street, Fagbemi area, Igboginla, Ipaja, Lagos, where they reside.
The little girl, Islamiat suffered her fate after she allegedly offended Mrs. Amope, and she angrily took the shovel hit her on the head and there was profuse bleeding before the girl was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police and Mrs. Amope was subsequently arrested.
After thorough interrogation and having been found culpable, she was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O.Osunsanmi, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, she was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 5th December, 2022, for mention.
