A 35-year old woman, Mrs. Chidinma  Kalu, has been arrested in Lagos State for displaying cruelty on her 11-year old house boy, Promise Kalu, by burning his two hands with a hot kitchen knife, which caused him severe injuries.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Aborishade Street, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged the woman, Mrs. Chidinma, to have put a kitchen knife on the fire until it turned red, she brought it and used it to burn Promise’s hands and injured him in the process.

She landed in trouble after their neighbours, who saw the condition of the boy, contacted the Police at Isokoko Division and she was arrested.

When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Victor Eruada, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum while the matter was adjourned till 23rd March, 2022, for mention.
