Police operatives of the X-Squad Ikeja Command, Lagos, have arrested a 55-year old business woman, Mrs. Aderonke Omole in Lagos for buying and receiving company’s stolen products worth N19m which she sold to make huge profit.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the stolen products belonged to WHAO Logistics Limited located at Ilupeju area of Lagos.
Police source said that Mrs. Omole conspired with two other suspects, Alhaji Raji Adeoye and Olamide Adedeji and stole the products – Ribena, Lucozade boost where it was parked at Glaxo Smithkline Consumer PLC Ilupeju and escaped.
However, when it was discovered that the products were missing, it was traced to Mrs. Omole. She was arrested and she implicated the other suspects said to be at large.
It was gathered that the suspect denied conspiring with the suspects as she never knew they were stolen products as claimed, because she paid for the products. But the suspects who sold the products did not show up to clear Mrs. Omole over her claim and so the police found her culpable.
The police did not state if the products were recovered or not but Mrs. Omole was charged before the Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.Sule-Amzat granted Mrs Omole bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuehi did not object her bail but urged to court to use discretion to grant the suspect bail to enable her to come to face trial.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 4 June, 2018.
