The marriage between a woman, Mrs. Wuraola Surajudeen and her husband, Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi, has collapsed two weeks after their wedding as the wife developed hatred and denied him sex in Kwara State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled wife, Wuraola, has filed a suit before an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, asking the Court to grant her divorce two weeks after her marriage to the husband, Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi on grounds of lack of love and affection.
The wife told the Court that she had no single love and affection for her husband, as such she will no longer continue with the marriage and cannot allow him to have sex with her because of the hatred for him.
She told the Court that she was once married before her wedding to Iya-Onitasi and later divorced her former husband because of pressure from her mother.
“I divorced my former husband due to pressure from my mother. My former husband became a religious fanatic after our marriage and my parents were against it.”
“I was introduced to my present husband and we got along smoothly. But immediately after the marriage, I developed hatred for him,” she said.
The man told the court that his wife left the house without his consent, saying that she was tired of their marriage as well and wanted the Court to dissolve their marriage.
The embittered husband told the Court that he had tried on different occasions to consummate their union but she refused to allow him to have sex with her and therefore, asked the Court to let her be and he will move on with his own life.
However, he told the Court that since the marriage cannot continue, she should refund the money he paid for her dowry.
“I want her to pay back the N20,000 dowry I paid for her hand in marriage,” he said.
The Presiding Judge, Hammed Ajumonbi, ordered the petitioner to pay back the dowry and adjourned the matter for judgment.
