A 29-year old woman Amina Aga has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly obtaining N1.5m from her blind lover, Bamidele Adebayo under the false pretence of taking him abroad to cure his blindness.

The incident happened at Alhaji Ganiyu lawal street in Ejigbo, Lagos where Adebayo reside before he got blind.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the Plateau State-born Amina met Adebayo and started dating him and thereafter moved her belongings to his house.

Adebayo, who got blind four years ago lamented his predicament to Amina and told her how his wife abandoned him because of his blindness.

Amina promised to assist and even take care of him by taking him abroad where he will be treated and will regain his sight.

However, she told him that the treatment will cost up to N5m and asked him to bring any amount he had and she will add to her own to take him abroad and pay for the medical bill.

Unknown to Adebayo, Amina had another motive to defraud him, she reportedly used part of the money Adebayo gave her to procure travelling documents for herself to travel abroad.

It was while Amina was about to travel abroad that the neighbours got wind of how she obtained the money and immediately contacted the police at Ejigbo Division.

Amina was arrested and taken to the station where the police investigation revealed that she actually obtained the money from Adebayo to escape abroad.

She was asked to return the money and she said he had used it to obtain traveling documents to Dubai.

She was brought to Ejigbo Magistrates Court on Monday and arraigned for stealing under the Criminal Code.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, inspector Kenneth Asibor told the court that Aga should be given bail condition which will enable her to come to court to face trial for the interest of justice.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The court ordered her remand in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 16 May 2015.
