Woman Docked For Breaking Into Dead Man’s Safe & Carting Away Documents With Cash Of N125m

A woman, Ms Omolara Janet Oluwole, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into the safe containing documents and money worth N125m belonging to a man, late Tayo Oshisanya. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Juliana Adunni Street, Ipaja area of Lagos, where the deceased lived before he died.

 

According to the Police, the woman dishonestly and unlawfully broke into the safe and carted away the items. And when the son of the deceased, Tosin Anthony Oshisanya, confronted her she threatened to deal with him if he demanded for his father’s property.

 

The matter was reported to the Commissioner of the Police, who ordered for an investigation. The woman was arrested and detained at the State Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Ms. Omolara Janet Oluwole “f”, of No.7 Juliana Adunni Street, Ipaja on the 11/05/2017 at Ipaja in the Lagos Magisterial District, did dishonestly and unlawfully conduct yourself in a manner likely to Cause Breach of Public Peace and thereby committed an offence contrary and Punishable Under Section 168(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Ms. Omalara Janet Oluwole “F” of Same address, on the same date, in the same Magisterial District, did unlawfully break into a safe and stole the official and property documents valued one hundred and twenty-five million Naira (N125 million) belonging to Mr. Tayo Oshisanya “M” who is now late and converted same to your own use and thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 280 and Punishable Under Section 287 of the criminal code laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Ms. Omolara Janet Oluwole “F” of the same aforementioned address, within the same period at the same Magisterial District, did unlawfully and dishonestly threaten with words of mouth to deal with Mr. Tosin Anthony Oshisanya should he demand for his father’s official and property documents and thereby committed an offense contrary and Punishable under Section 232 of the Criminal Code laws of Lagos 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted her bail in the sum of N3m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 22nd January, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
