Woman Kills Husband Over Daughter’s Birthday Party

A 23-year old woman, Mrs. Stella Peter, has been arrested by Police operatives from the Homicide Department in Lagos for allegedly stabbing her husband, Bala Haruna, for refusing to bring money for their daughter’s birthday party.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 2 Tejuoso Avenue, Surulere area of Lagos, where they reside.

Mrs. Stella was alleged to have used a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband; he bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital but he died in the process.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 17th September, 2019, at about 0600hours, homicide detectives from Surulere Division arrested one Stella Peter ‘f’ 23, for stabbing her husband, Bala Haruna ‘m’ 25, to death.

The couple, who were not actually married, had lived together at No. 2 Tejuosho Avenue, Surulere, Lagos, for three years and had a baby who just turned one. An argument was said to have ensued between them, which turned violent and in the process the woman, Stella, used a kitchen knife to stab the man at the back, which led to his death.
DSP Elkana stated that the woman accused the man of refusing to release money for their daughter’s birthday party hence an argument ensured between them and later turned violent resulting in Stella taking a knife to stab him.
The matter was reported to the Police; the corpse was retrieved and taken to the mortuary for autopsy report.
Elkana said that homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos, have taken over the investigation. The woman confessed to the commission of the crime. The Police spokesman said that Stella will be charged to Court for murder, which attracts life imprisonment or hanging if she is tried in Court and found guilty for the alleged offence.
