WRAHP Embarks On 3-Day Capacity Building For Civil Society Organizations

A Non-governmental organization, Women’s Rights And Health Project (WRAHP) has embarked on building capacity training for Civil Society organizations (CSO) in Oshodi/Isolo and Ojo local governments area of Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the three days workshop which started on Tuesday 14th December will end on Thursday 16th December 2021 at Toluwashe event centre located at Governor’s road in Ikotun area of Lagos.

The event was organized by WRAHP in conjunction with the European Union and British Council which attracted many CSOs across the two local governments.

The Executive director of WRAHP, Mrs Bose Ironsi emphasized the importance of capacity building on the civil society  to enable them to know what it requires to manage such organization  effectively.

She emphasized that trust is the key for the people in the community to believe in the vision of the founders and that can only be achieved through honesty and transparency. 

“Tell the people in the community the truth about what you are doing and with time they will trust you and believe in the vision”

Mrs Ironsi also advised the Civil Society groups to always have in their mind that, while they are building their capacity, they should as well allow their staff to grow by training them, noting that one of the effective ways  directors grow is to grow with others that will assist to achieve the vision for the benefit of the society.

Some of the highlights of the workshop include how to have effective communication between the CSO leaders and the stakeholders in the community,  networking among the CSO and the relevant agencies, case management, funds raising among others.

The manager of Idera Referral centre, Mrs Babatunde-Martins Mororoke informed the CSO leaders that referral centre has been brought closer to the community located at Alimosho General Hospital, Igando area of Lagos.

She explained the centre offers free medical, counselling and other services for survivors of sexual and gender based violence in the society established by the Lagos State government.

She enjoined the participants to make use of the facilities provided by the Lagos State government for the benefits for the victims in the society.
