The National President, Yoruba Cultural Alliance (YCA), in the United States, Abiodun Akinfenwa, today said that the YCA received with deep sadness the news of the passing of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Gboyega Soyannwo.
Mr. Soyannwo died on Wednesday after a brief illness at the age of 55.
YCA, n a statement by its secretary, Mr. Sesan Alade, condoled with the family of Gboyega Soyannwo and described the death as a great loss to the people of Lagos State and his enormous contributions to the service of the state.
“On behalf of the Yoruba Cultural Alliance, USA, I mourn the passing of a great mind, who contributed to the service of Lagos State. A bold, strong, and dedicated man in active service. He was a philanthropist who dedicated his life to the service of his community and state.”
“I pray for the repose of the soul of the late Gboyega Soyannwo and pray that the deceased family, friends, and associates have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
Soyannwo was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov Sanwo-Olu in 2019. He was reappointed in 2023.
