A 42-year old man, Alfred Chuka, who was arrested for engaging a 15-year old girl in sex romp, has confessed to the Police that she lured him into it and since then he has been sleeping with her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Chuka, was arrested by the Police at Area G Command, Ogba, Lagos, for engaging the victim, who is a minor under the statutory age of the Lagos State Criminal Law.
The alleged rape was committed by the suspect, Chuka, at Shitu Thomas, Elliot area of Ishaga, Lagos, where they reside, before it got exposed.
During interrogation by the Police, he admitted that he had been secretly sleeping with her since 2020 after she initiated the move; she asked him for a favour, which he obliged her and had no disagreement with the girl.
But contrarily, the girl stated that she was lured into it because he took advantage of age and defiled her in the process.
However, that explanation was unable to save him because the Police found his conduct culpable. He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Kenrich Nomayo, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. R.A. Alejo, ordered him to be remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 29th July, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
