The re-election bid of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, received a massive boost yesterday, 6th January, 2023, as the 4 Political Wards in Enugwu-Ukwu community threw their weight behind her ambition to return to the Senate.
At an event held shortly after a rally voluntarily organized by community stakeholders and supporters of the PDP Senatorial Candidate to show solidarity and support to the Senator, Ekwunife was received with pomp and pageantry, in a manner akin to royalty.
Speaking at the rally, the Convener of the Rally, Chief Ben Okoye (Uchumuluaku), extolled Senator Ekwunife for her wonderful performance, especially in terms of her projects in Enugwu-Ukwu. He further noted that Ekwunife constructed roads in Enugwu-Ukwu during her time at the Federal House of Representatives and progressively continued the good work at the Senate. Chief Okoye added that Ekwunife is a lawmaker who has passion for human development and has facilitated pensionable jobs to the youths of Enugwu-Ukwu amongst others. He appealed to the people of the community to vote Ekwunife in this year’s elections.
Chief Arthur Nwandu (Oba Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri) appreciated the Senator for her exceptional leadership and extolled Ekwunife’s capacity and competence at the National Assembly. Speaking further, Chief Nwandu declared that Ekwunife has done worked effectively for the people and deserves re-election.
Speaking at the event, an APC Stakeholder in Enugwu-Ukwu, Chief Johnpaul Okeke, extolled Ekwunife’s tremendous performance at the Red Chambers and stated that though, he belongs to APC but he has decided to support the lawmaker because of her achievements and urged the community to vote PDP for continuity and consolidation.
The Traditional Prime Minister of Enugwu-Ukwu, Chief Dennis Anaekwe (Omenyi Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri), stated that the only thing he owes Enugwu-Ukwu Community is the truth, stating that Ekwunife is one of the most reliable and truthful Lawmakers in the country. He further declared that Ekwunife has helped the sons and daughters of Enugwu-Ukwu in all endeavors. He recounted how the distinguished Senator assisted in ensuring that the township stadium was attracted to Enugwu-Ukwu and appealed to the people to give the capacity Senator total support in this year’s elections.
Responding, Ekwunife expressed joy in the support given by the community and described Enugwu-Ukwu as her community. She noted that as a House of Representatives member, she constructed 4 erosion control projects in Enugwu-Ukwu and as a Senator, she constructed 4 roads in the community. The grassroots friendly Lawmaker further noted that she has attracted jobs to 19 youths of the Community.
Conclusively, the Federal Lawmaker added that her performance is incomparable and declared that her candidature is based on a track record of performance and competence. She also thanked the women of Enugwu-Ukwu for their support and solidarity and urged them to vote for their fellow woman who has done well for the people.
