The incident happened at Aina Street in Orisumbare area of Shasha, Lagos, where the victims went to disconnect the residents over electricity bills.

It was gathered that the victims visited the area with their ladders and attempted to climb the electric poles to disconnect wires before the residents mobilised and attacked them before they narrowly escaped.

The matter was reported to the police at Shasha Division and one of the suspects, Babatunde Adetoye was arrested and detained at the police station. The other accomplices were said to be at large.

The suspect was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. K.J. Layeni granted Adetoye bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that there had been epileptic supply of electricity in the area, yet outrageous bills were being sent to the residents to pay every month. That it was gathered prompted the residents to act in such unruly manner which the police described as taking the laws into their hands, and that their conduct was likely to cause breach of public peace.
