After a year hiatus, the National Institute for Sports (NIS) on Tuesday matriculated 200 students in the various departments.
The admission is coming after a year the admission process was suspended by the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the institute, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
According to the DG, the current students are coming after the reorganization of the precedure in student admission in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s plan to reposition the NIS as a foremost sports institute.
“We have completed the administrative phase of repositioning the NIS and that’s why we’ve opened the admission for the next intakes.
” This is the first set and I think they are lucky because we’ve reorganized everything about the institute from the lecturers to the curriculum as part of the plan to turn it into a global institution,” the former Edo State Deputy Governor said.
Comrade Shaibu, however, advised the new intakes to not only be law abiding but must be disciplined to be able to churn out good and disciplined coaches and administrator.
