A House of Representatives aspirant in Anambra State, Lady Maureen Gwacham, has promised to donate her salary and allowances for the upkeep of poor widows in her constituency, if elected to represent Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency.
Maureen, a renowned entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, who declared to vie for the ticket of the constituency under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said she would not take salary and allowances for personal use as a member of the House of Representatives but for the development of every level of the constituency.
She said “I will set up a Constituency Trust Fund, to which my salary and allowances would be paid into and then applied to all areas of the constituency, if I won the party’s primary to run for the Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency and gets elected into the House.”
Maureen Gwacham, who was received with wide jubilation at the Media parley with dozens of journalists held at Best Western Meloch Hotel, Awka, the State capital, disclosed that she is not seeking to serve to acquire wealth for private use.
“I do not need to chase money for personal use any longer. I will enliven the constituency with progress and development, taking care of the health of the elderly and widows, attending to schools and health centre problems in the constituency, establishing a Constituency Trust Fund that would be administered by men and women of integrity, if offered the ticket and voted into the House of Representatives to represent the constituency.”
She enjoined the Oyi/Ayamelum APGA faithful and delegates, who will be at the party primary election, to exercise their civil obligation without fear. She solicited support from the delegates, to cast their votes in her favour, promising not to disappoint.
