The New Nigeria Group, NNG, a new political movement that is canvasing for a better new Nigeria, recently held the grand launch of its Lagos State Chapter as well as its National Stakeholders meeting in Lagos.

Drawing enthusiastic members and various support groups from all parts of the country, the event also had eminent personalities such as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, the Chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. B.O. Aniebonam, Mr. Sam Ogbemudia Jr., respected royal fathers and others in attendance.

Speaking at the launch, the Convener of the NNG, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a former CEO of Neimeth Pharmaceuticals Plc and ex-president of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), President- Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria,  lamented the miserable state of the country that necessitated the founding of the NNG. He identified insecurity, corruption, poverty and injustice as four major challenges that have made Nigeria a backward nation where life has become brutish for many.

Proposing a solution, Mazi Ohuabunwa said, “As a Nigerian patriot, I have over the years talked, written and proposed ideas about how to rescue Nigeria, yet no change. It is now time for action. We, at the NNG, are ready to put words and ideas to action and help create a new Nigeria that works for all and not for a few”.

“We will provide an inclusive leadership and return Nigeria to a country of industry, knowledge, excellence, integrity, liberty, justice, sanity and security on the foundation of true Godliness, not mere religiosity. I call on all Nigerians to join hands with us.”

The Convener, after his speech, which was greeted with rousing ovation and shouts of support, presented the NNG flags to all State Chapter Coordinators, inducted new members into the Lagos State Chapter of the NNG and also presided over its inaugural stakeholders meeting.

Speeches expressing support and endorsement of Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa to run for President in 2023 were later made by several eminent individuals, groups and political parties. Those who spoke in support of the NNG Convener at the event included the Ohanaeze President-General, Prof. Obiozor, Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr. B.O. Aniebonam, Mr. Sam Ogbemudia Jr., Octogenarian Engr. Nath C.U. Okoro, the first indigenous Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, royal fathers, diverse Arewa groups from the North, groups from South West, South East, South South, and representatives from Diaspora, who spoke online.

In his own remark, Ohanaeze President-General lauded the excellent records of the Convener in service to the country in various capacities, affirming that he has what it takes to lead Nigeria. He also challenged all Nidigbo sons and daughters to be bold to declare their ambitions and run for president because they are more than qualified.

Lending their support too, Association of Nollywood Igbo Movie Actors & Producers at the event, collectively endorsed the Presidential ambition of Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and presented him an Award of Excellence, hailing his impeccable attributes as befitting of a future president of Nigeria.
