Police operatives in Lagos have arrested two suspects, Solomon Danladi, 27 and Thomas John, for allegedly killing a lady and dumping her corpse in a shanty.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in a wooden house in a shanty located at Road 73, FESTAC town, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
The suspects were said to have tied the lady on both her hands and legs and dumped her corpse at night unknown to them that they will be caught.
The matter was reported to the Police and the suspects were arrested. They were later transferred to the Homicide Department at SCID, Panti, where they were detained for further investigation.
During interrogation, they reportedly denied any complicity in the lady’s death but the finger print analysis conducted and the result showed they were behind her death.
They were subsequently charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court.
However. the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Hycient Agada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Oshoniyi, ordered the defendants to be remanded in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the matter was adjourned till 9th September, 2021.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP’s report finds them culpable and recommends their trial for murder.
