3 Women Arrested For Chopping Off 2-Year Old Baby’s Face

A 2-year old baby, one Favour Orogbu, died in pains after her face was reportedly chopped off with a sharp object by three women for an undisclosed purpose inside a hospital in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the three women, Victoria Evachukwu, Ebere Samson and Ruth Jesugbeme, have been arrested in connection with the dastardly act on the innocent 2-year old victim.

The incident happened at Nevico Maternity Home located at Iyana Ajangbadi, Lagos.

The police at SCIID Panti Yaba, Lagos have commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the death which seemed strange even to the police.
It was gathered that the late 2-year old Favour Orogbu was taken to the hospital and in the evening, part of her face was chopped off by the suspects. The victim suffered the pains until she bled to death.

The motive behind the act by the suspects was not yet known but some of the residents suspected that the baby was murdered for ritual purposes which was yet to be confirmed.
Following the death, the police at Ajangbadi Division arrested the suspects including the owner of the hospital and transferred them to SCIID Panti, Yaba for further investigations.
It was gathered that during investigation, the police found them culpable and charged them before the Ebute Metta Magistrates court for the alleged conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Nwadione, informed the court that it was a case of murder which happened at a maternity home and the victim was murdered. He asked the court for order to seek the DPP advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo, did not take their plea and equally refused considering their bail because of the seriousness of the offence.
The court ordered them to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 18th October, 2018 for the report of DPP advice to be available.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter will be transferred to the High Court for murder trial if the DPP found them culpable. And the defendants may spend the rest of their lives in prison custody if they were tried and found guilty for the alleged offence.
