The Police operatives from Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos, have commenced manhunt for those going to various hotels within the Alimosho Local Government area to drink and smoke in the evening after work.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that already seven suspects including a lady have been arrested, charged before the Court and then remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos.
The suspects were Omoniyi Bode, 30, Chidera Ndukwe, 22, Adamu Ogeniyi, 44, Benjamin Sunday, 36 Joshua Owen, 18, Abdul Ishola, 24 and a lady Clara Simeon, 33.
The Police alleged that the suspects, on 16th, 19th and 21st February, 2021, at 9.30 pm, were found drinking and smoking at the premises of Cash Hotel, Iyana Ipaja and Skelewa Hotel, Pako Bus Stop in Igando, Lagos.
The Police further stated that the suspects were unlawfully assembled at the hotels, which may likely cause fear to the people in the area thereby committed an offence.
However, some of the suspects said that they were arrested and accused of having sex for three days in the hotels at the period.
They were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence and they pleaded not guilty before the Court.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a short date for hearing on the matter to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, they were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd April, 2021, for mention.
