Lagos FA Cup
More than 90 clubs will play in this year’s Winners Golden Bet /Lagos State FA Cup which kicks off on 3 April, 2017.
PM EXPRESS can report that no fewer than 80 clubs (men’s category) and 12 clubs (women’s category) are registered for this year’s edition of the FA Cup.
Series of events have been lined up before the kick off date with the draws ceremony and seminar for all the clubs, officials, coaches and administrators holding this week’s Wednesday at the secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos chapter at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Dotun Coker, Chairman of the Technical Committee of Lagos State Football Association informed that Mr Siji Lagunju, Technical Officer of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF will conduct the coaching clinic for coaches of the participating clubs, while the seminar will see Dr. Bukola Bojuwoye delivering paper on ‘Application of First Aid Treatment’ with Dele Atoun also delivering paper on the ‘Amendment to Laws of the Game’, while Dotun Coker will deliver paper on the Rules and Regulations of the championship.
Coker submitted that the seminar is very important and very critical to the success of the championship which has MFM FC as the defending champions of the men’s category.
“It has always being a tradition in Lagos State FA to always update our affiliated clubs on the latest development of the game, hence the reason for this seminars before any major championship or tournament”, said the former Lagos Divisional Football Association chairman.
While the championship will kick off on 3 April, the finals will hold on 6 and 7 May, 2017 for women and men’s categories respectively.
