Stakeholders in Abia North Senatorial District have endorsed the former Abia State Governor and 9th Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, for another term in the National Assembly, citing what they described as his record of legislative performance and constituency development.

The endorsement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Professor of Sociology, Ohajuru Nnabuike, on behalf of the stakeholders.

According to the statement, legislative business requires competence, experience, and the capacity to attract democratic dividends to the people, adding that Kalu has demonstrated these qualities through his representation of Abia North in the Senate.

The stakeholders said they had unanimously resolved to support Kalu’s bid for re-election to the Senate, describing him as a grassroots politician with the political experience and legislative capacity to continue advancing the interests of the district.

“We cannot trade a proven performer for an unknown personality whose political capacity to attract development to the senatorial district remains uncertain,” the statement read.

The group argued that the gains recorded by Abia North under Kalu’s representation should be sustained, warning that a change in representation could slow the pace of ongoing developmental initiatives.

The stakeholders also appealed to Gen Z and first-time voters to participate actively in the electoral process and support candidates with proven records of service.

They expressed confidence that Kalu’s return to the Red Chamber would enhance the attraction of federal infrastructure projects, promote quality legislation, and facilitate policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Abia North and Nigerians at large.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing support for Kalu ahead of the next National Assembly elections, expressing optimism that his continued representation would consolidate the developmental strides recorded in the senatorial district.
