AFCON 2021: Sanwo-Olu Opens Viewing Centres Across Lagos

In a bid to promote sports in the State, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the State Government has opened viewing centres across the State for Lagosians to watch live football action from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations 2021 (AFCON) live from the host country, Cameroon.

The viewing centres were opened to fans on Day One of the Match on Sunday, January 9, 2022, for the opening ceremony as well as the opening match between the host, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that the centres will run till the end of the AFCON 2021 on Sunday, 6 February 2022.

Centres are set up at the following locations: Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Campos Mini Stadium Lagos Island, Abesan Estate, Ajeromi Central Nursery and Primary School, New Road Ajegunle, Bishop Aggrey School Mushin, Epe Recreation Centre, Mobolaji Johnson Sports Center, Rowe Park Yaba, Agege Stadium, Italewa Ikorodu and Badagry.

Entry into the ten viewing centres are free and adequate securities have been provided by the State Government.

The purpose of the centres is to serve as relaxation and fun spots for Lagosians and to have a feel of football in the ongoing AFCON 2021.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are taking part in the AFCON, are scheduled to have their second match of the tournament against Sudan on Saturday after they secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday.
