One of the leaders of the Alternative music scene, Victoria Falana, also known by her stage name, “Falana,” releases an intensive body of work in a 7-tracked critically acclaimed EP, ‘RISING’; which is a collaboration with 7 leading Nigerian visual artists – each of them creating a work which has been inspired directly by a song on the new EP.
Themed around women’s empowerment; to be launched during West Africa’s largest Art fair, ArtX, the Rising Exhibition and Installation Concert co-curated by Falana herself, along with the Director of Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos, Oyindamola Fakeye, the ‘Rising‘ EP is a constellation of compelling sounds ranging from outstanding songs like ‘Sweet Adetola’ which summarises a woman’s multi-tasking ability to work through challenges and become a victor in the end; ‘Electric Lady’ which urges women to recognize their strength and ‘Energy’ which celebrates the power of self-love.
The RisingInstallation and Concert to launch this dynamic work of art will be held on November 4, 2021at Gaia House with limited tickets available at: www.falanamusic.com. On November 9, 2021, the exhibition will move on to the luxury concept store Alara for a week-long exhibition opening and later.
The seasoned Alte artiste plans to tour the artwork and event with stops including London, Paris and New York. “I am both excited and humbled to be collaborating with these amazing visual artists to create this unique experimental experience in the contemporary African Music and Artspace”.
