Agulu Medical Mission Donates Special Drugs To Sickle Cell Home

In preparations to a healthy yuletide for her Indigenes, especially the less privileged and vulnerable, the Medical Committee of the Agulu Peoples Union, acting under the auspices of “Friends for Friends Initiative,” recently embarked on a two days medical outreach for the medically challenged in the community, held at the unity hall Agulu.

The exercise witnessed a large turnout of beneficiaries who were suffering from diverse ailments like eye defects, organ failures, cancerous growths etc. 

The medical team which has Dr. Nzelum and Pharm. Chukwemeka Obi  among others, also donated expensive drugs for the Sickle Cell Home Agulu.

Dr. Nzelum while making the donations, said that his team are concerned about the healthy living of sickle cell patients, especially those domiciled in the sickle cell home Agulu. He advised them to take their drugs religiously, as only a proper and effective medication can guarantee their safety from constant crisis episodes. Pharm. Chukwuemeka Obi also cautioned against drug abuse as detrimental to health.

Responding on behalf of the association, the national coordinator, Mrs Aisha Edward Maduagwu, was elated by such kind hearted gesture from the team of health professionals, and promised that the drugs would be put into good use. She observed that ndi Agulu are well renowned in humanitarian activities and felt at peace ever since the sickle cell home was sighted within it’s boundaries. She called on other communities to borrow a leaf from Agulu and to respond actively to the challenges of persons living with sickle cell disease.

Some of the drugs includes, analgesics, antibiotics, antimalarials, antihistamines, antihelminthics, multivitamins, ORS, malaria test kits, cough syrup, ulcer healing drugs etc.
