A 26-year old housewife, Mrs. Bolanle Lateef, has vented her anger on her female co-tenant, Kafilat Ogunfeyimi, by pouring hot water on her body and inflicting serious injury during a squabble in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Babalegbe Fatunbi, Masalasi Bus Stop, Egan area of Lagos, where they reside.
The doctors were said to be battling to save the victim’s life due the severe injury she sustained.
Most of the residents expressed surprise over what would have infuriated the suspect to have taken the decision to pour the hot water on the victim.
It was gathered that both have had several quarrels in the past which the neighbours tried to resolve to no avail until the recent one, which led to the pouring of hot water on her.
They were said to have exchanged words over washing space and in the process the suspect, Bolanle, carried the hot water on top of her gas cooker and emptied on the victim’s body.
The matter was reported to the Police at Igando Division and Bolanle was arrested.
After interrogation and having been found culpable, she was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, informed the Court that the victim was still in the hospital due the injury she sustained.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogunkami, granted her bail with conditions and ordered her remanded in Correctional Centre pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 20th January, 2021.
