The Lagos State Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pension, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, has sought the collaboration and cooperation of Heads of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies in boosting the career of public servants through the Learning Management System (L.M.S) platform of the State Government, which is aimed at assisting all officers to develop themselves and gather new knowledge and skills that will support optimal performance.

Mrs. Ponnle made this known during a visit to the Public Service Office (PSO), Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) and Ministry of Special Duties, all in Alausa, Ikeja, to create awareness on the import and adaptability of Ministries to the radical change and approach to learning in the State.

She postulated that training is no more an event in Lagos State but a lifestyle, hence the LMS system is here to stay, stressing that over 40,000 Public Servants have been onboarded on the platform while about 21,000 have enrolled and registered with over 4000 courses at their disposal, thereby giving everyone the opportunity to learn at their own pace.

She admonished the Directors of Admin and Human Resource, Learning and Development officers, including the ICT Officers in the respective Ministries and Agencies, to regularly monitor and ensure that officers learn on the LMS platform as there are rewards for top learners like international training and prizes, saying “Send in your top learners. Let us know who is learning and not learning. Rewards will be given to top learners”.

While calling for monthly reports of top learners and those with lackadaisical attitude to training, the Commissioner noted that the LMS platform, which is an initiative of the present administration, is targeted at boosting the capacity of the State Public Service in order to keep it ahead of other Government establishments in Nigeria.

Ponnle revealed that the LMS is part of the Government’s strategy in ensuring that training of public servants becomes more 21st Century compliant in the State with the platform enhanced to allow greater participation of trainees in various programmes.

She noted that the State Government is setting up an LMS digital library at PSSDC with computers for learning to further boost capacity development and urged heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to encourage officers to key into the LMS platform as there are various courses to enhance their career which will in turn improve service delivery.

Some of the various courses, according to the Commissioner, include personal development courses, management courses and courses tailored to respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as distinct local content courses.

On the reason behind the use of official emails to access the platform and not personal emails, she informed that all officers now have official emails, hence using official email as usernames gives room for easy access to the platform as it will be difficult for anyone to forget his official mail.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr. Bamgbose Martins, also commended the initiative and workability of the platform.

The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office Mr. Samson Ajibade encouraged all and sundry, especially officers on grade level 7-17, to key into the new learning platform of the State Government, requesting that Officers in the lower cadre or those with learning deficiencies should be assisted and motivated.

Director of Training, Office of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lolade Aina, urged everyone with login difficulties to consult the ICT Officers in their ministries or visit the LMS Clinic situated at the Conference Room of the Office of Establishments and Training for easy access to the platform and necessary registration.
