Fela Anikulapo Kuti said, “If something good dey l go sing, but all the things when dey e no dey good”. But with Senator Monday Okpebholo and the likes of Dr. Alex Otti, perhaps there would have been an opportunity for the world to hear the praise version of Fela Anikulapo’s melodies.

Monday Okpebholo’s 100 days in office as the Governor of Edo State have been marked by significant achievements, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare and development of the state. One of Okpebholo’s notable strengths is his respect for traditional institutions, particularly the Oba of Benin. This gesture has earned him praise from various quarters, showcasing his willingness to work with stakeholders to promote the state’s cultural heritage.

In terms of infrastructural development, Okpebholo’s administration has made giant strides. The Benin/Auchi Road, once a death trap, has been transformed, making travel less cumbersome. Additionally, the construction of an overhead bridge at Ramat Park, Benin City, is underway, aimed at easing traffic congestion and many other mind blowing constructions that are set to commence soon.

Okpebholo has also prioritized education, approving the promotion of 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the state’s 18 Local Government areas. Furthermore, his administration has initiated the reconstruction of 100 schools, demonstrating his commitment to improving the state’s educational infrastructure.

The security sector has also seen significant improvements under Okpebholo’s leadership. The reduction in cult-related violence and the resultant loss of lives and properties is a testament to his administration’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in the state. The governor’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Edo State residents is evident in the increased presence of security personnel on the streets and the establishment of a special task force to tackle cultism.

Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole has praised Okpebholo’s pragmatic approach to governance, noting that Edo State is now “back in safe hands”. With his impressive track record, Okpebholo has demonstrated that he is a leader who delivers on his promises, and Edo State is likely to experience significant transformations under his leadership. He talks less and do more.

As Okpebholo continues to work tirelessly with a double portion spirit of Messiah Ambrose Ali to transform Edo State, it is clear that the state is in safe hands. His administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance is a welcome departure from the past, and Edo State residents can look forward to a brighter future under his leadership.

Welcome on board to the exciting unknown, as “Akpako Do Something” takes the lead.
