What an unforgettable day it was at the iconic Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Saturday, November 9! The Square which has undergone upgrade came alive as Ndi Anambra gathered for the vibrant unveiling of the 2024 New Yam Festival.
This year’s “Iri Ji” celebration was nothing short of spectacular—a powerful prove to the hard work and achievements of the farmers over the past year. Truly, it was a celebration that echoed the saying, “aka aja aja na ebute onu manu manu,” showcasing the spirit of resilience and passion for farming.
Leading the charge was the people’s Governor, Soludo, joined by a stellar lineup of government officials. The atmosphere was electric as Ndi Igwe, community leaders, and their spirited Women’s groups paraded in from all corners of the state, greeted by joyous cheers and an ambiance that felt like a carnival!
The air was thick with excitement at Alex Ekwueme Square, bursting with lively festivities as Ndi Anambra filled the avenues sorrounding the new government house and the bustling streets of Aroma, even while they’re undergoing impressive boulevard expansions, and construction.
