Ambode Commissions New Ikeja Council Roads

It was a memorable weekend for residents of Ikeja Local Government area as Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode commissioned the reconstructed two council roads project on Saturday.

The roads are two of the 114 roads reconstructed by Governor Ambode administration across the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.

During the commissioning of the road in Olu Akerele Street, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who represented Governor Ambode at the occasion, lauded the governor and member of his administration for taking the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

In his speech at the commissioning, Gov. Ambode said the roads were part of the articulated concept of inclusive governance; a system in which policies, projects and programmes shall be driven by the needs of the communities.

The new Olu Akerele Street is 401m long and 9m wide with walkways and street lights.

Also in Onipetesi area of the local government area, residents, traditional rulers, politicians, CDA members trooped out to witness the commissioning of Onilekere Street off Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

At the occasion, Governor Ambode was represented by Iyaloja- General of Nigeria, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.

Ambode told the gathering that Lagosians should expect nothing but a better and safer Lagos in the next three years.

The newly built Onilekere Street is 425m long and 8m wide fitted with walkways and street lights..

In his remark, the Sole Administrator of Ikeja Local Government, Engr. Abiodun Taiwo thanked Gov. Ambode for the reconstruction of 114 roads across Lagos metropolis.

He appealed to the residents of Ikeja and environs to continue to support the governor to enable him do more for Lagos State and Ikeja Local government.

In attendance at the two events are Dr. Adesola Taiwo (APC chieftain), Mayor Alan Okikioposu (1st Executive chairman, Ikeja LGA), and Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu (Member, Lagos State House of Assembly) among other dignitaries.

They all praised Governor Ambode for his focus and those wonderful jobs he has been delivering across the Lagos metropolis.

Between January and August, 2016 Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode has made Lagos economy the most viable in the country by investing more than N19bn of the State and Local government funds in infrastructural development.
