A hotel bouncer, Kenneth Bethel has been arrested after he displayed his boxing strength on his neigbour and broke his lower jaw with fist blows during a fight between them in Okota, Lagos State, Nigeria.
The incident happened at Hakeem Dosumu Street in Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos where they reside.
The victim, David Thomas was badly injured which affected his entire mouth and he cannot eat and speak properly because of the injury.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the doctor treating him said his mouth cannot be close because the jaw twisted one side because of the assault.
The 29-year old Bethel was charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court with assault and serious wounding by the police under the Criminal Code.
It was gathered that trouble started after the tenants contributed money and gave to Bethel to buy some electrical cable for repair in the compound.
When Thomas sighted what Bethel bought, he challenged him and told him what he bought was fake and he might have short-changed the tenants.
In anger, Bethel grabbed and rained fist blows on his mouth and used the cable wire he bought and flogged him.
Before he realized what he had done, the damaged had been done as Thomas was bleeding profusely and he was rushed to a hospital where his mouth was stitched and he cannot speak well for now.
The matter was reported to the police at Ago Palace Way and Bethel was arrested and charged to court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Bethel was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 17 October 2016.
