The Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Emeka Ezenwanne, has commenced on -the -spot assessment of street light projects in Onitsha and environs.
The Commissioner was accompanied by members of the Community – based Monitoring Committee of all the projects in the State, Security personnel and others.
The inspection, which started from the Onitsha Toll Gate to Bridge Head, is aimed at ensuring that non-functional facilities are replaced and proper evaluation of the level of installation of the new ones.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection, the Commissioner said that in line with the present administration’s determination to give Ndi Anambra quality standard of living, he embarked on the tour at night to get first hand information of the status of the street light project.
Engr. Ezenwanne, who expressed satisfaction with the job done, said that the light-up intervention would further enhance tight security in the area and promote road safety as well as discourage reckless drivers from knocking down some of the facilities and urged Ndi Anambra to report any damage done to the projects to relevant authorities.
