Police Arrest Man, 42, Over Defilement Of Girl, 10

A 42-year old man, Bola Isiaka, has been arrested for penetrating a 10-year old girl’s private part by force and injuring her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oremeta Street, Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged that the suspect, Isiaka, lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant, forcefully penetrated her and warned her not to tell anyone about it.

However, the victim, having suffered injury in her private part, revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was subsequently reported to the Police at Isokoko Division.
Hence, the man, Isiaka, was arrested. After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victim was a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, then ordered Isiaka to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the matter was adjourned till 14th November, 2019 for report of the DPP to be ready.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds Isiaka culpable and recommends that he should be tried for rape. The alleged offence attracts several years of imprisonment if the man is found guilty before the Court.
