In an unprecedented political realignment, Anambra State’s 2025 off-cycle gubernatorial election is set to make history, with Soludo positioned for a resounding, unopposed victory. What began as a routine electoral cycle has transformed into a sweeping endorsement of Soludo’s transformative governance, as members of the opposition abandon their political parties to align with his administration.

This rare political phenomenon underscores a stark reality: Soludo’s first three years of achievements have silenced critics and inspired a cross-party consensus that his vision for Anambra is unmatched. His administration has redefined governance in the state through revolutionary infrastructure projects, education reforms, revitalization of the healthcare sector, and zero poverty programs. Opposition figures, once vocal during previous administrations, now acknowledge that the results of Soludo’s administration speak louder than any propaganda.

Why Opposition Parties Are Choosing Collaboration Over Competition:
Insiders reveal that Anambra’s opposition members have quietly withdrawn from their parties, opting instead to lobby for roles in Soludo’s government. Their reasoning is simple: why challenge a leader whose approval rating exceeds 80% across grassroots and whose policies have united even the most opposing stakeholders?

“Soludo has set a new standard,”

admitted a major stakeholder from the APC. “His work in security and infrastructure has blurred party lines. Anambra’s progress is bigger than any individual ambition.”

The governor’s inclusive governance style has further fueled this shift—“One Anambra, One Agenda, One Project.” Soludo has created a coalition of progress that prioritizes state development over partisan politics. His launch of Homeland Consciousness—a platform to harness diaspora expertise, participation, and partnership—has deepened the inclusivity.

A Mandate for Continuity:
Political commentators describe the impending unopposed election as a “vote of confidence” in Soludo’s agenda. With projects like the ongoing 800km road revolution, featuring major dualizations, flyovers, and bridges, along with a zero-poverty agenda and urban renewal initiatives, Ndi Anambra sees continuity as the best path to sustain momentum.

“This isn’t about stifling democracy,” argues Ngozi Okafor, a political scientist at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. “It reflects Soludo’s unique ability to unite Anambra’s fragmented political class under a shared vision. Opposition aren’t surrendering—they’re investing in a legacy bigger than themselves.”

The Road Ahead:
Although Soludo is not preoccupied with his re-election, it appears that his second-term election will occur without electoral drama, as his focus remains steadfast: delivering a livable, prosperous, and globally competitive Anambra. The absence of opposition is a testament to a state rallying behind proven leadership.

In the words of a market leader in Onitsha: “When a governor builds roads that connect our businesses, educates our children for free, and provides free maternity care for our women, what is left to oppose? Anambra has chosen progress.”

With the 2025 election now a coronation of competence, Soludo’s challenge is clear: to continue raising the bar and ensure that Anambra’s golden era is just beginning.
