MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA
The Catholic Diocese of Nnewi flagged off her 2019 Laity Week yesterday at the St. Gabriel’s Spiritual Year Centre, Ozubulu. The event was a gathering of the entire Catholic community in Nnewi Diocese. They had painstakingly selected eminent Faithfuls for special recognition and award.
Lady Rita Maduagwu, a dedicated member of the prestigious Knight of Saint Mulumba and a devout Catholic, was among the few chosen for this ecclesiastical honour.
Lady Rita Maduagwu is the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly. Her contributions to humanity transcends politics. For this reason, she has become a recipient of various awards. However, she holds this very recognition from the church in great esteem. In her words, “all efforts in life comes to naught if we are not conscious of our relationship with our maker and strive to be with him hereafter”.
The award, to her, is a reminder to do more for God and the church as that is the ultimate aim and purpose of human existence. The Speaker extends sincere appreciation to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Most Rev. Hillary Okeke (Nna Ora) and the entire Laity for finding her worthy of such honour.
