Anambra To Benefit From UK Funded Digital literacy Programme, Says Barrister Maduekwe

The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Digital Economy, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, has revealed that the state has been selected to be among the first set of beneficiaries of British funded digital literacy programme.

Barrister Maduekwe, who was a guest on ABS 88.5FM in Awka, where he discussed “Sustaining Governor Obiano’s Legacy Projects” noted that Anambra took the lead when the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, announced complete waiver for Right-of-Way (RoW) charges for fiber optic cable installation and hosting of the first Broadband Stakeholder’s Conference where UK representative, His Excellency, Guy Harrison, Counsellor to the United Kingdom Government and others participated.

He said that the Government policy on digitizing almost all its affairs like the Anambra State Physical Planning Board which after its eSolutions implementation programme crashed building approval processes from three months to less than one week.

The ANSPPB Boss described the eGovernment Solutions Implementation Award presented to him on behalf of the Board by Beacon of ICT on Saturday, 24th July, 2021, in Lagos as a testimony to the numerous initiatives of the Governor Willie Obiano led administration in digitizing all Government approval processes. 

The phone-in programme, “Nzuko Anambra”,which was anchored by the duo of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Broadcasting, Hon. Ify Aronu Okafor and Chief Roy Ekwunife, was held between 10 and 11am.

Moreover, a pensioner, who called in from Abia State, congratulated ndi Anambra for having a Governor who pays salaries to workers, as and when due unlike his state that has been owing pensioners since 2003. He described Governor Obiano as a  ‘mekaria Governor’. 

Also, Mama P from Nawfia, thanked Governor Obiano for his giant strides especially the Anambra International Airport.

Barrister Chike Maduekwe, who is also the Chairman/CEO of Anambra State Physical Planning Board, noted that the government of Chief Willie Obiano has done marvelously well and opined that the only way to sustain the tempo of development in Anambra was to support APGA in the upcoming governorship poll scheduled for November 6, 2021.
