Blind Man Faces Trial For Defiling Neighbour’s 13-year Old Girl

A visually impaired man, Francis Ugachukwu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 13-year old girl by forcefully engaging her in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ugachukwu, has been arrested and charged over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened at Kareem Giwa Street, Abule-Osun, Ojo area of Lagos State, where they reside.
He was alleged to have lured the girl to his apartment and forcefully engaged her in sex. The girl later exposed him and reported what happened to her parents. He was then arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The suspect, Ugachukwu, was later arraigned before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State on one count charge of defilement.
The Prosecution State Counsel, Abimbola Abolade, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in November 2022, which contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Abiola Soladoye, ordered the remand of Ugachukwu without an option of bail pending the hearing and filing of his bail application by his counsel.
The matter was adjourned till 18th October, 2023, for a hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.
