BREAKING: Many Feared Killed As Unknown Gunmen Attack Catholic Church In Anambra

For Ozubulu community, Sunday 6 August, 2017 will go down as a Black Sunday as unknown gunmen invaded the Catholic church in the community and attacked innocent worshippers.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the gunmen came into St Phillips Catholic Church, Ofufe Amakwa, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government area of Anambra State while the Sunday mass was on, looking for a prominent personality in the community known as Ebubechukwu Uzo of Ozubulu.

It was learnt that when the gunmen could not locate their target, they opened fire on the worshippers who had gathered for the mass.

Eye witness told P.M.EXPRESS that the Parish Priest was not harmed but scores have been confirmed dead including children, while many were wounded by the bullets sprayed by the gunmen.

The gunmen reportedly came looking for Ebubechukwu Uzo also known as Bishop who we gathered narrowly left the village a day before unknown to them.

Worshippers who escaped the attack said the gunmen who all communicated in Igbo Language fled the scene immediately.

While the State Police Command spokesperson could not be reach for comment, people were of the opinion that the attack may not be unconnected with a drug deal gone awry as Bishop was regarded as the most dangerous drug baron based in South Africa.

He is renowned for his philanthropic gestures having helped develop his village, had tarred many roads, built churches and helped many people.

As at the time of filing this report, the number of people who lost their lives and those wounded have not been ascertained but blood was said to be all over the church premises.

The death toll is on the increase as the injured and the dead bodies have been moved to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.
