President Muhammadu Buhari was again absent at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting which is currently ongoing inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is again presiding over the meeting in Buhari’s stead just like he chaired the last FEC meeting before the Easter holidays, while last week’s meeting was called off.
The ongoing meeting started a few minutes after 11 am when Osinbajo asked the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu; and the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, to say both Muslim and Christian prayers respectively.
Dr. Habiba Lawal, the acting Secretary to the Government of The Federation, SGF is also attending the meeting for the first time.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, told State House correspondents two weeks ago that President Buhari was “hale and hearty” but he had other important engagements to attend to hence the decision to delegate the vice president to preside over the FEC meeting.
The President’s state of health has been a huge source of controversy in recent times, since he returned from a nearly 50-day medical trip in the United Kingdom.
