KINGSLEY EBERE

Chief Evarestus Ozonweke (Onowu), National Coordinator of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Southwest, has slammed former Ohanaeze President, Chief Solomon Aguene, stating that he will face prosecution for his alleged atrocities as his consent judgment ended on 8th April, 2026.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that this development follows allegations by Aguene that Ozonweke wrote a petition against Ndigbo to the Executive Governor of Lagos State over the purported election Aguene organized, which produced Chief Leonard Okafor (Oba Ojoto) as President.

Ozonweke lambasted Aguene for making false and frivolous accusations, threatening to prove his claims while stating that Aguene will be held accountable. He denied writing any petition against Ndigbo or the election, citing a valid and subsisting court order that made such actions unnecessary.

According to Ozonweke, Aguene’s consent judgment has elapsed, and he has been reduced to nothing, lacking reputation and credibility to sit with Igbo leaders. Ozonweke claimed he was instrumental in packaging Aguene, despite Aguene’s limitations, but Aguene has turned against him.

In a voice note circulating on social media, Ozonweke stated that Aguene has failed and will continue to fail because he (Ozonweke) is innocent and protected by God. He believes Aguene’s allegations are attempts to create enmity between him and Ndigbo, who he has served with honesty and sincerity.

Ozonweke emphasized his commitment to resolving crises among the Igbo in Southwest, citing successes in some states. He posited that he is not against peace in Ohanaeze Lagos State but seeks genuine efforts from Igbo leaders to address issues and bring lasting peace.

Aguene’s allegations against Ozonweke appear to be a desperate attempt to deflect attention from his own failures and alleged atrocities. Ozonweke’s determination to prosecute Aguene demonstrates his commitment to accountability and justice.

The situation highlights the challenges facing Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, with leadership disputes and allegations threatening the organization’s stability. Ozonweke’s leadership and vision are crucial in addressing these challenges.

As the National Coordinator, Ozonweke has a responsibility to promote unity and cooperation among the Igbo in Southwest. His actions against Aguene demonstrate his commitment to protecting the interests of Ndigbo.

The outcome of this situation will have significant implications for Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s future with Ozonweke’s determination to hold Aguene accountable potentially setting a precedent for accountability within the organization.

Ozonweke’s stance against Aguene reflects his dedication to Ndigbo and its people, prioritizing their welfare and interests above personal or political considerations.
