OLALEKAN ONI
The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Wednesday attended the commissioning of the Openi–Mende–Ojota Link Bridge, a strategic infrastructure project delivered to ease connectivity and enhance mobility within Lagos State.
The commissioning ceremony was performed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ably represented by the Senate President, H.E. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio. The landmark project, executed by the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, attracted the presence of governors from across the federation, party leaders, stakeholders, and residents from different parts of the state and beyond.
Comrade Dauda commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for delivering a legacy project of such magnitude, noting that the bridge further strengthens Lagos’ status as a thriving megacity and the “City of Aquatic Splendour.” He described the Governor as a model of purposeful leadership, consistent in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
While urging residents to take ownership of the infrastructure by using it responsibly, Comrade Dauda also emphasized the importance of tax compliance. He noted that the government’s capacity to sustain development and execute more people-oriented projects is largely dependent on the willingness of citizens to fulfill their civic responsibility through prompt tax payment.
