Chief Solomon Aguene Hails Minister Dave Umahi For Supporting Chief Linus Okorie’s Father’s Burial

The Former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, has commended the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for his support towards the burial of the father of Chief Linus Okorie, scheduled for July 31st, 2026.

Chief Aguene stated this during an interview at his Ikoyi office in Lagos State. He described the gesture as a demonstration of unity and purposeful leadership.

According to him, the Minister’s involvement has brought comfort not only to the bereaved family but also to Ebonyi people both at home and in the diaspora.

He noted that Senator Umahi has once again shown that he remains a father figure to Ebonyi State. The support, he said, reflects the Minister’s commitment to standing with his people in times of joy and in times of mourning.

Chief Aguene said he had earlier called on all sons and daughters of Ebonyi State to unite for the progress and development of the state. He added that the Minister’s response through this act of solidarity is a clear example of leadership by example.

He explained that supporting burial rites is a deeply respected tradition in Igbo culture. By identifying with Chief Okorie’s family, Senator Umahi has reinforced the values of community, respect for elders, and collective responsibility.

The former Ohanaeze leader recalled Senator Umahi’s record of service while he was Governor of Ebonyi State. He described him as one of the key architects of modern infrastructure and development in the state.

Chief Aguene noted that many of the roads, flyovers, and public buildings delivered under Umahi’s administration continue to shape Ebonyi today. He said those projects remain visible proof of purposeful governance.

He added that even in his current role as Minister of Works, Senator Umahi has continued to draw attention to infrastructure development across the South-East and Nigeria at large.

According to Aguene, this consistency in service shows that the Minister’s concern for Ebonyi goes beyond politics. It is, he said, about the wellbeing and dignity of the people.

Chief Aguene urged other leaders and stakeholders from Ebonyi State to emulate the spirit of unity being demonstrated. He called on Ebonyi indigenes to put aside differences and work together for peace, development, and the good name of the state.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of Chief Okorie’s father and for God’s strength for the family during this period. In conclusion, he reiterated his principle of appreciating any good done, stressing that Senator Umahi’s leadership will continue to inspire acts of solidarity across Ebonyi State.
