China has successfully conducted a test of a two-ton electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft commonly known as an “air taxi”.
Developed by Shanghai Aviation Technology, the air taxi, named M1, features dimensions of 10 meters in length, 3 meters in height, and a wingspan of 15 meters.
With a weight of 2 tons, it has a design range of 250 kilometers, a cruising speed of 200 kilometers per hour, and a capacity to carry 5 people with a maximum load of 500 kg.
This electric aircraft, resembling a drone, is capable of vertical take-off and landing, eliminating the need for a conventional runway.
China, acknowledged globally as a leader in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), continues to make strides in aviation technology.
The M1 operates on electricity, offering advantages such as low noise, zero carbon emissions, and a streamlined assembly process requiring only 2 to 3 individuals, facilitated by its lightweight carbon fiber coating.”
