Chinese Consortium Visits Anambra, Plans Huge Investments

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano yesterday received the Chinese Firm, Oriental Golden Promise Company.

The meeting which held at the conference room of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Government House, Awka, saw the Deputy Gov. Nkem Okeke, some commissioners and the Group’s leadership in attendance.

Receiving the consortium on behalf of Gov. Willie Obiano, the Deputy Governor   appreciated the leadership of the Group for identifying with the safest state in Nigeria that also boasts of the largest market in West Africa. Dr. Okeke informed the visiting Group that Anambra State has an Agency that not only protects and promotes investment in the state -ANSIPPA but serves as a one-stop-shop for investments in the State.

He further stressed that Anambra stands tall in foreign direct investment in Nigeria as the state since the inception of Obiano’s administration, had attracted about $5b worth of investments covering all sectors of the economy.

The group was led by its Nigerian representative, Chief Ikemefuna Eze, included Mr. Bob Wang (General Manager, Oriental Golden Promise), Summer YR Xia, Manager, OGP, Yongsheng Su (Deputy General Manager, CCC) and others.

Admitting that “Anambra has the largest market in West Africa”, Mr. Wang said that has made the State a popular “choice for Investors”.  The General Manager of the company said they were in Anambra with the CCC (China Communications Company) which has other agencies under it like the CCCC Water Transportation; Development Institute; Information Management Centre and Architecture Design Institute; to consider the feasibility for Light Rail Project, Onitsha River Port Development, and General Infrastructure Development for the state. Mr. Wang informed that Oriental Golden Promise has the funds for the projects ready. He pointed out that the company was currently handling the development of Lagos State Lekki Port Project.

Bob Wang thanked the Governor for receiving them, saying that the success stories of Anambra were echoing in the investment world. He assured that the firm was ready to move into Anambra State by September 2018.

The Chinese Team later visited the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) headquarters in Awka.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the company’s profile and other projects constructed by the company in other African countries by one of the Group members, Mr. Okey Onyekwere.
