CNN’s Richard Quest Beats Closing Gong At Nigerian Stock Exchange

CNN International anchor and reporter Richard Quest on Thursday beat the closing gong at the Nigeria Stock Exchange, NSE in Lagos.

Quest, renown business journalist, who arrived Lagos earlier in the week was at the 9th floor of the Exchange House to perform the ritual at the bourse.

He however left the venue immediately after beating the gong, leaving behind a group of journalists who had been there to interact with him.

The respected ‘Quest Means Business’ anchor is in Nigeria to explore Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.

He disclosed on his Twitter handle that he was “busy filming around Lagos”, adding that he will be “tweeting my early thoughts on being back in Nigeria after 10 years away.”

In another tweet, Quest stated “Good morning from #Lagos #Nigeria. Here for a week of filming and doing Quest Means Business. Great being back in Africa.”

So far, he had been spotted in Oshodi, the commercial nerve centre of the city, posing for photographs with other pedestrians.

“Filming on the Oshodi interchange was vibrant & bustling. Lots of people on the move,” he tweeted.

“NOW seeing the real Lagos. Wonderful to be out meeting Nigerians. I’ve been overwhelmed with the friendliness,” he tweeted as he posed with two of Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA staff.

He was also at the Nike art gallery to chat with the arts connoisseur, Chief Mrs Nike Okundaiye-Davis.

Quest was seen photographed rocking Agbada, Western Nigerian clothings with heavy bead.

Quest also visited Terra Kulture where he had a feel of Nigerian jollof rice and affirmed that it is delicious.

He however clarified that ” I ain’t getting involved in the #jollofwar”

There has been a long standing battle on Twitterville between Nigerians and Ghanaians on which country has the best jollof rice and its country of origin.

At the NSE gong beating event with Quest were the Executive Director, Market Operations and Technology, NSE, Ade Bajomo; the Chief Executive Officer, NSE, Oscar Onyema; and the Supervising Producer – Africa, CNN, Stephanie Busari.
