Coaches from various clubs have been talking tough ahead of the fourth edition of Asisat Oshoala Grassroots Women Championship which kicks off on 24 December at St Jude Primary School, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos.

The tournament is sponsored by a member of the Super Falcons, Asisat Oshoala. All the club’s coaches who attended the draw ceremony held recently at St Jude Primary School on Friday were boasting that their teams would go far in the tournament.

Speaking with Adex Queen Coach, Kunle Adeogun boasted that his girls are in their best form and ready to take their opponents, Papa Queens to the cleaners when both teams clash on Monday in the opening game.

“We are in this competition to win it. I have prepared my girls and they are ready to give their best in their first game. We know that the tourney is in knockout basis and we don’t want to lose against our opponents because our target is to lift the cup,” said Adeogun who has been in coaching for the past twenty five years.

In his own comment, head coach of Phoenix, Prince Ganiu Adekunle stated that his mission is to go far in the tournament saying that anything short of winning the trophy would be huge disappointment. He revealed his team are ready for any opponent but warned his girls to approach all the matches with all seriousness.

“Of course we should not be complacent because all the teams involved have good football pedigree in Lagos. We are coming to this competition with high expectations and we cannot afford to crash out in our opening match against Aseyori Queens,” he said.

Meanwhile four matches would be played on Monday when Adex Queens face Papa Queens. Lakeside Queens would take on Nakamura Queens, while Aseyori Queens face Phonenix Queens as Owo- Igbe Queens battle Jojo Queens in the last match of the day.

Match coordinator, Kazeem Alabi urged the participating teams to play the game according to the rules and regulations.
